About Me
My name is Andrea Lewis and I am a Midwest Designer and Artisan born and bred in the Land of Lincoln and the hometown of Cheap Trick lead guitarist, songwriter, and backup vocalist, Rick Nielsen, and actress, singer, songwriter, Destiny's Child member, Michelle Williams.
I have been knitting since the age of 8, designing my own knitting patterns since the age of 12. I didn't learn to properly crochet until my mid-thirties, but I have been designing crocheted hats and scarves, using patterns I find online and even freestyling a few of my own. Today, I'm still not much for writing crochet patterns; it's more challenging for me than writing a knitting pattern, because knitting is more regimented. So, for the time being, I will only be sharing my knitting patterns with you. But I will still show any crocheted handiwork I am especially proud of.
Despite how long I have been knitting and (to a far lesser degree) crocheting, I discover new techniques and stitch patterns pretty much every year. Knitting, in particular, has changed a lot since I begin my journey as a child. This is great for me, as I love to experiment and implement what I have learned.
I will be sharing the fruits of what I have learned from time to time on Facebook and Mastadon as well.
I created Andrea Crochets and Knits to make my addiction to yarn, knitting, and crocheting self-sustaining. There’s very little that I enjoy more than creating wearable works of art, except, maybe, seeing them on the heads, necks, and shoulders of my family and friends.
If you share my love of the fiber arts, please, don't hesitate to friend me on my social media and share your own works of art with me.
