My Second 2-Color Brioche Project
I created this hand-knit 2-Color Brioche Ladies Wrap using the Wide Flat Cables stitch pattern I found in Natalie Marchand's 'Knitting Fresh Brioche'. A really great book on brioche knitting, btw!
The completion of this 60" (unstretched) wrap took more than 2 weeks. It was difficult in the beginning, but I learned a lot and I feel much more confident in my ability to knit brioche stitch patterns of all kinds.
This was my very first attempt at knitting something that required 2 yarn colors and complicated pattern design. I struggled a great deal during the first week and a half and considered giving up.
You can't just fix brioche stitch issues on the fly as you can with other forms of knitting. I had to unravel and reknit to fix my mistakes. And I did a LOT of unraveling and reknitting. To the best of my memory, I unraveled and reknitted at least eleven times. But seeing the finished wrap with its cool and striking color combination made it all worthwhile.
I can hardly wait to wear this beautiful wrap all around my Midwestern town this Autumn. Heck, I'd wear it now, over a long-sleeved shirt, in this 64-degree weather if not for the quarantine and the fact that it clashes with my face mask. ;)
All I need now is a matching hat. I'm thinking of either a beret or a beanie with a pompom. I'm leaning more towards the beret. I love the shape and fit of a slouchy beret. The beret will never go out of style.
Hopefully, my favorite yarn store will get the main color back in stock soon. FYI, I am using Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran in the colors Tea Rose and Washed Teal.
