Still On My Needles - 2/24/2025

slipped stitch rib scarf in progress

As the title indicates, I am still knitting the self-striping, slip-stitch scarf from last week.

I have been concerned that I may not have enough yarn left on my second ball of yarn to finish it at a length I prefer. Fortunately, the scarf is now approximately 58 inches and there is enough yarn left to reach 62 inches easily before decreasing down into a second triangle to end. But I would mind it being a few inches longer, if possible.

The problem is, I only purchased 4 balls of this yarn (it came in a pack of 4) and I wanted to save the remaining two balls for another project. I think the bright stripes would look great with a certain lavender to white ombre yarn I also purchased from Ice Yarns years ago. And I believe it is also a microfiber acrylic yarn.

It will be a fairly lightweight scarf, regardless of its length. The yarn (Ice Yarns Gelato) I’m using is a 2 weight, but looks and feels like a slightly heavier fingering weight.

In any case, I want to finish this scarf by the end of the month, so I can start working on one of the project ideas that have been bouncing around in my head these last few days.

I very much want to create another mosaic knit project. I am also considering a mosaic crochet project. That's something I haven't done in more than a year now. But I will make a final decision once this project is completed.
